Music
Because we are a band, yes, we play music! In general, we play a great variety of tunes, mostly pop and contemporary, although we also play the occasional national anthems (O, Canada!) and movie songs. Below, you can find (an old, 16 years old to be precise) selection of music we’ve played, which despite meriting some updates, is still representative of who we are. At the very end, you can take a look at our music inventory, alongside our picks for the rep this year!
Yes, we have played for no other than Susan Hockfield, our late institute president, after whom the famous Hockfield Court is named after (we think?). Today, playing for MIT high dignitaries has become more difficult due to the complex geopolitics of campus (yes, engineers no longer be doing just math these days), but we still do our best to surprise them, nonetheless!
Playing “The Final Countdown” right outside of the Stud (student center) is also a classic, especially during our evening rehearsals while the running club is going through. Nothing makes those runners happier than listening to our Rocky tunes!
We do field shows, too, and these are quite informative as a matter of fact. The one in question is about global warming, very appropriately themed by playing “Walking on Sunshine”.
We like to dorm spam and also infiltrate buildings such as Stata or B7, especially during exam season. Nothing beats listening to the marching band while simultaneously trying to study for finals and finishing your final projects and psets.
